Attributed to Samuel van Eenhoorn, the owner of De Grieksche A (The Greek A) factory from 1678 to 1685
The sphere painted in blue and manganese with a continuous scene depicting three figures conversing, one of them standing and holding a vessel, the other two sitting beside a large book in a fenced garden near rocks and pines, the reverse with two standing figures, one of the figures holding a large fan amidst a landscape of shrubbery and rocks, the top with a single figure in a landscape, the scenes separated by a flowering vine and foliate-scroll border between concentric circles, the same decoration repeated around the ankle between two bands of leaf tips, the slightly domed circular foot with three oval landscape panels separated by ruyi-devices.
