D1429. Two Similar Polychrome and Gilded Plates

Each painted in the Imari palette of iron-red, blue and gold with a central basket or urn of flowers with a beribboned handle within a roundel with an inner border of scroll-edged floral panels alternating with smaller blue demi-ruyi-head devices, and an outer border of iron-red foliate lappets and iron-red and gold blossom-and-scroll devices, the rim with a border of the same blue demi-ruyi- head devices alternating with an iron-red variation, all interrupting a band of dotted scalework at the edge, the reverse with six-iron-red stylised floral sprigs on the rim.
