The fair is organized by The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) and is widely regarded as one of the premier art fairs in the world. It attracts collectors, dealers, and art enthusiasts from all over the globe. The fair typically takes place in March.

TEFAF Maastricht is known for its high-quality artwork and the strict vetting process that all works go through before being accepted for the fair. The fair features works from a wide range of periods and styles, including ancient art, modern and contemporary art, and design. The fair attracts a wide range of attendees, including collectors, dealers, and art enthusiasts from around the world. In addition to the opportunity to view and purchase works of art, there are also lectures, panel discussions, and other educational events that take place during the fair.
