D8220. Blue and White Armorial Plaque

Delft, dated June 5, 1688

Painted with an oval shield divided in six parts, suspended on ribbons from the helmet, surrounded by an elaborate mantling of scrolling leaves and surmounted by a wreath and star crest; the reverse unglazed but with an original manganese inscription DEN 5 JUNIUS Ao 1688.
